Summer 2019 Milliken Watercolor Studies
A collection of gestural paintings from my time as an intern at Milliken and Company in 2019. I was a information systems intern at the time, and I made it part of my daily practice to use my lunch hour painting various landscapes around the Milliken Arboretum.
Each of these paintings were roughly 40-50 minute studies of landscapes in the Milliken Arboretum and surrounding areas.
Water is a main focal point in this collection. Prior to my internship, I had never seriously experimented with water color, which is something that has since become one of my favorite art forms. It seems only fitting that I spent most of my time painting water.
I would frequently be visited by the arboretum ducks while I worked. They would walk up to me, and keep me company.
On days when I was unable to paint during my lunch break, I would make an effort to make some other painting that day. The three paintings above were much quicker studies (around 15-20 minutes each) of scenes I visited outside of work.
